What makes AXIS unique?
A typical skydiving school introduces people to the sport, generally with a Tandem, and can provide the necessary training to earn the USPA A-License. These schools can be thought of from an education standpoint as kindergarten through high school, with the A-License being like a high school diploma. AXIS, which can be thought of as a university, providing higher education and advanced training methods to achieve greater skills and understanding. The majority of our clientele are highly motivated, ambitious, and goal oriented. Many are intelligent high achievers in their chosen professions and seek to apply their pursuit of excellence to their hobby.
This is where AXIS’ unique and high-quality training provides tremendous value. Brianne and Nik are highly decorated skydivers who founded AXIS as a boutique instruction operation. The intentionally-small operation has been based at Skydive Arizona since 2010, and is one of skydiving education's indisputably premium brands. Because the pair have had a long history of competing all across the board, AXIS's coaching method uniquely implements a singularly effective, multi-domain coaching strategy born in the fire of the highest-level training in the sport. Their coaching style integrates once-disparate disciplines in a unified space – and focuses squarely on quality.

Origins
In the early 2000’s, Brianne was an AFF instructor who would frequently bring her students to the Perris Skyventure wind tunnel where Nik worked as an instructor. They immediately became friends and soon after teammates. Being driven and ambitious, both have spent their entire careers competing in various disciplines. Competitions serves as their proving grounds, keep their skills sharp, and forcing them to refine and innovate their training and teaching methods.
Though they loved competing, Nik and Brianne felt that something was missing from the skydiving community. They would often chat about the apparent rifts in the sport between disciplines. At that time the skydiving culture was such that one had to choose which side of the fence they were on: belly or freefly. While talking about it, they always came back to the point of how much one discipline could learn from the other. It also quickly became evident that they shared similar outlooks on the sport and began to fantasize about a hypothetical place that embodied their philosophy and values. They wanted to see a fundamental shift in the community’s way of thinking where skydivers could come together, share their knowledge and have an appreciation for the various skillsets each discipline requires. Their vision included a coaching method that was more articulate and detailed than what they had experienced from other coaches at the time with a higher level of professionalism. A holistic approach that fuses the intuitive and tactile with analytical analysis.
In 2007 the dynamic duo went from team mates to business partners. In an effort to create an inclusive sanctuary of learning for all axes of flight, the pair chose to operate under the name AXIS Flight School. From humble beginnings, Brianne and Nik started their coaching business out of the trunk of a beater car by commuting between various DZs and wind tunnels in southern California. Living as cheaply as possible, they chased their dreams.
In 2010, AXIS relocated to Skydive Arizona, setting up shop at the world’s largest drop zone. Since then, Brianne and Nik have been coaching jumpers with incredibly diverse backgrounds all over the world, fulltime, year-round. They spent their time competing at multiple world championships in various disciplines, organizing at boogies, hosting tunnel camps, and coaching all over the United States and Europe. They are not “jacks of all trades”, rather the pair has strategically specialized in each discipline for a number of years. Not only do they strive to improve their personal skills but continue to refine their teaching abilities as well. Putting their unique experience and knowledge to work, they developed a training methodology and teaching techniques that reach a wide audience. This includes sport and military jumpers, as well as wounded veterans with amputations and other life-altering injuries.
To reach a larger audience, AXIS has been contributing to the safety & training section in Parachutist magazine. The monthly column “Foundations of Flight” features in depth tutorials that shed light on various skill sets used by different disciplines in the sport. To serve the competition community, AXIS developed the most comprehensive draw generator and performance analysis tools in the world, free of charge.
Today, AXIS continues to compete, innovate, and teach,
encouraging everyone to:
